Betty Hodges Finegan passed away peacefully at home in Kerrville, Texas January 24, 2017. Betty was born September 6, 1929 to Floyd and Jessie Hodges in Del Rio, Texas. She lived on a ranch in Carta Valley, Texas and went to school there until the family moved to Del Rio. After graduating from Del Rio High School in 1946 she attended Sul Ross University. She was a member of the Sul Ross Rodeo Association and was voted the first Rodeo Sweetheart in 1948. In 2011 she was inducted into the Sul Ross Rodeo Hall of Fame. Betty married John Finegan June 7, 1950. They moved to the family ranch on the Devils River. She was involved with her husband in their ranching and hunting business until they retired. They moved to Kerrville in 2003. She was preceded in death by her parents and John, her loving husband of 66 years.

Betty is survived by her daughter Sharyn Goldman and husband Jeff, son Jim Finegan and wife Carol, grandchildren Kara Woodson and Coulter Woodson. Also left to cherish her memory are dear friends Raymond and Ellen Quigg and her loving caretakers Juana Navarro, Nancy Escobar and Elena Escalante.

Funeral Services will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, February 4, 2017 at St. James Episcopal Church located at 206 W. Greenwood St in Del Rio, Texas.
