Charles Landon Boston

Charles Landon Boston was born March 26, 1933. He went to be with his Lord on November 19, 2015.

He was the husband of Sarah E. Boston; son of Charles Ross Boston and Alta Marie Boston (both deceased). He is survived by wife, Sarah E. Boston of Del Rio, Texas, son Landon Ross Boston and wife Dina of Del Rio, Texas, daughter Tammye Louise Gerdes and husband Daniel James Gerdes of Lynn Haven, Florida, sister Judy Hoff and husband Eddie, half-sister-in-law Mickey Eubanks of Gonzales, TX, sister-in-law Manuela Boston, step-sister-in law Barbara Putnam grandchildren Meghan Boston Dempsey and husband (Joe) of Colorado, Trapper James Gerdes of Florida, Hunter Wyatt Gerdes of Florida, Montgomery Boston of Colorado, Shenandoah Boston of Colorado, step grandchildren Nathan Berryhill and Evan Berryhill,of Del Rio, Texas, and numerous nephews, nieces and cousins. He is preceded in death by parents Ross and Alta Boston, stepmother-in-law Martha Baron, brother-in-law Ernest Hamilton, half-brother-in-law Patrick Hamilton, step brother and wife Ross and Dot Foster, brothers Kenneth and Morris Boston, nephew Johnny Partida, half brother-in-law David Eubanks. Landon was born in Mason, Tx but moved to Del Rio, TX when he was 12. He attended Del Rio High School and graduated in 1952. He attended 1 year at Sul Ross State University, Alpine, Texas before entering the U.S. Army where he served in the Korean War until a phosorous grenade explosion terminated his army career as SFC (E-6). He had his right hand amputated. He then returned to Sul Ross State University majoring in geology and minoring in biology. He married Sarah E. Hamilton on Dec. 22, 1956. Landon and Sarah graduated in May, 1960. Landon was teaching grades 5-8 at Langtry. It was in this year that their son Landon Ross Boston was born. They went on to teach grades 3-6 in Maverick, Arizona. The family returned to Del Rio to live and teach until retirement in 1994. They became the parents of a daughter (Tammye Louise) in 1964. Landon continued with his education receiving his Masters of Education, his counseling certification and his administration certification. He taught 5th grade at East Side Elementary School before moving to Del Rio High School where he taught biology and was a counselor. Later became Asst. Principal at Del Rio High School; he was principal at St. Joseph's School. Later he was supervisor of Support Services for the Del Rio district. He became Support Services Director for the Del Rio district until his retirement. Landon and Sarah moved to their Salt Creek ranch in 1978. Stayed busy teaching, raising hay for sale, gardening whose produce was shared by anyone and all, raising and selling basset hounds which they shipped nationwide and worldwide into South Africa, South America, England and Japan This business was terminated upon retirement. Landon enjoyed gardening, fishing and hunting. Landon was very active and Sarah is very active in church (Del Rio Bible Church) for many years. Pall bearers are Ralph (Bo) Hutto, Ben Bloys, Hervy Chapa, Steve Plank, Jesse Rodriquez (Border Patrolman and our hay baler), and Charlie Stubblefield. Honorary Pall Bearers are Meghan Dempsey, Shenandoah Boston, Evin Berryhill, grandsons: Trapper Gerdes, Hunter Gerdes, Montgomery Boston, Nathan Berryhill, and Joe Dempsey. Visitations will be on Monday, November 23, 2015 from 6-8:00P.M at G. W. Cox Memorial Funeral Home. Chapel service will be on Tuesday, November 24, 2015 at 11:00A.M, at G. W. Cox Memorial Funeral Home with Rev. Joe Ricchuiti officiating. Interment will follow at Westlawn Cemetery. Charles requested that memorials be sent to charities of choice or your choice of church in his name.
