Elida M. Ramirez (Class of 1945) Obituary

 

Elida M. Ramirez, age 91 of Del Rio entered into rest on December 8, 2016 in Del Rio,Texas surrounded by her family. She was born to Juan and Juanita Molano on August 10, 1925. Elida graduated from Del Rio High School in 1945 and she was proud to be a Wildcat. Elida was always cooking, sewing and making crafts for family and friends. She loved life and enjoyed going out with Olga to parties and out with her friends for lunch. Music was her love and at times would be caught dancing and singing as she did her housework. Elida had friends young and old who all knew her for her kindness and friendliness. She never spoke an unkind word of anyone. Her grandchildren would always bring their friends over and she always had a meal for them. Everyone knew her as “Wela”. Her influence will forever live in the lifes of all who knew her.

Elida is preceded in death by her parents, Juan and Juanita Molano, sister Guadalupe Molano, son Juan Ramirez Jr, grandson John Jason Ramirez, son-in-law Guadalupe DeLeon Jr. and her sister-in-law Maria Padilla, her best friend since grade school.

She is survived by her husband of 63 years of marriage, Juan Ramirez, daughters Dr. Norma Ramirez and Olga (Seferino Jr,) Gomez. Grandchildren Seferino Gomez III, Juan Gomez and Jerry Ray Ross. Gabriella Rangel, a child whom Elida loved as a great-grandchild. Her special nephew, Oscar Padilla, who saw her on a daily basis and spent quality time with her till the end.
She is also survived by her brother/sister, Rogerio (Vertudes) Molano and Emma (Cruz) Rubio. Numerous nephews and niece also survive.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 11, 2016 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM; Recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7:00 PM at Sunset Memorial Oaks Funeral Home.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, December 12, 2016 at 10:00 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church.

Gentlemen with the Honor of pallbearers are Christopher Molano, Rolando Perales, Orlando Molano, Alonzo Molano, Daniel Chavarria
and Ram Castro. Honorary pallbearer is Jose “Paco” Rangel. Scripture Readers will be Ninfa Price and Rosie Castro.

Interment to follow at Westlawn Cemetery.
