Elvie Davis Turney

Elvie Davis Turney was born on September 7, 1919 in Del Rio, Texas to Florie and Emery Davis. She passed away peacefully in Eldorado August 13.
Elvie was raised on a ranch in the rocky hills around Loma Alta. After graduating from Del Rio High School she attended the University of Texas and then an exclusive ladies school in the Washington DC area. After a whirlwind courtship of three months she married Jack Turney on October 24, 1938. Jack passed away January 3, 1984 after a little over 45 years of marriage. Elvie and Jack moved to Quemado valley during the drought of the 1950’s. It was there that she was a Cub Scout leader before ever having children of her own. Later she served on the Eagle Pass Independent School Board.
