Laurance H. Speer
Laurance H. Speer, 80, died Monday, June 30, in Pea Ridge, Arkansas.
 He was born March 23, 1928, in Del Rio, Texas, to William Marion Speer and Laura Gertrude Keller Speer. He was a Corporal in the US Army where he was a company clerk at Ft. Sill, Oklahoma. After an honorable discharge he married Daisy Martin, June 1, 1954, and worked for the United States Postal Service in Del Rio as a clerk until his retirement. He was owner and operator of Gibbs Street Laundry in Del Rio for many years. He was a member of the Christian Science Mother Church in Boston Ma., and attended First Church of Christ Scientist in Del Rio and Rogers, Arkansas. He served as a board member in the early years of Border Federal Credit Union in Del Rio, and a Master Mason of Lodge #646 in Del Rio for over 50 years. He was a regular blood donor and received a plaque for donating ten gallons of blood. He enjoyed vacations, music, playing the guitar and singing, rock hunting, walking, and spending time with his family and friends.
 He was preceded in death by his wife Daisy Speer; an infant brother, and brothers Ralph Speer, Elmer Speer, and Franklin Speer.
Survivors are one son, Martin Speer and wife Linda of Ft. Collins, Colorado; three daughters, Laura Cochran and husband David of Belle, Missouri; Donna Speer of Pea Ridge, Arkansas; Judy Bachler and husband David of Pea Ridge, Arkansas; two brothers, William Speer and wife Doris of Seattle, Washington, and Donald Speer and wife Darlene of Austin, Texas; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren. He will also be greatly missed by brother-in-law Guy “Scooter” Martin and sister-in-law Carrie Martin, several cousins, and many lifelong friends in Del Rio.
Cremation arrangements are by Sisco Funeral Home of Pea Ridge. A memorial service is set for Wednesday, July 16, at 3:00PM at Sisco Funeral Home Chapel in Pea Ridge, Arkansas, with Reader Sharon Jeffrey officiating.
