PATRICIA ANNE WILSON CLOTHIER

August 25, 1931 - August 9, 2015

 

Patricia Anne Wilson Clothier died peacefully at her home in Prairie Village on Sunday, August 9, 2015. Patricia, or "Pat" was born August 25, 1931 in Del Rio, Texas to Ogarita "Bergine" and Homer M. Wilson. She was raised on the Homer Wilson ranch, Big Bend, Texas. She attended grade school at Alpine, Texas, and graduated from Del Rio High School. She was educated at Stephens College and Missouri University, graduating Summa Cum Laude from the University of Central Missouri. Patricia married William J. Cason of Clinton, Missouri, and was mother of four children: Brian Austin Cason, William Wilson Cason, Patrick Jennings Cason (dec.), and Candiss Ann Cason. She was married to Grant M. Clothier of Prairie Village, Kansas, for fifty years, and was mother to six step children: Mike Clothier, Louis Clothier, Jeanne Clothier Tyson, Tim Clothier, David Clothier, and Jaime Clothier Able. She has 19 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. An award-winning educator and writer, Patricia taught at Loretto, Kansas City Academy, and Ozanam Schools. She was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma, and of the P.E.O. Sisterhood. Her brother, Homer M. Wilson, and her son, Patrick J. Cason, preceded her in death, as well as her parents, Bergine Bailey Gatlin and Homer M. Wilson, Sr. Patricia helped to build and run the Deer Creek Camp for underprivileged children. She was a teacher, artist, and author of the book, "Beneath the Window: Early Ranch Life in the Texas Big Bend Country."
