Robert Virgil Cauthorn, 78, died on Monday, June 16, 2014, at his home in San Antonio. Bob was born September 30, 1935 in Del Rio, Texas to Virgil Francis Cauthorn and Mary Ann Graham Cauthorn.
After graduating from Del Rio High School in 1954, Bob attended the University of Texas at Austin where he developed his life-long passion for all things associated with Longhorn sports. After graduating from UT, he proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy for two years, entering as a Lieutenant J.G.
Upon returning to Del Rio, Bob met and married Sandra McNair, his wife of 53 years. His business career was spent in the insurance industry as an owner of Edwards-Graham General Insurance Agency. Bob was intensely proud of his family’s heritage in the Juno Ranching community where his father and grandfather were life-long ranchers and where he spent a good part of his youth.
An avid golfer, Bob made many friends on and off the golf course. Generous and loyal, Bob has left behind many Del Rio, Ruidoso, San Antonio, Longhorn, insurance and golfing friends.
Bob is survived by his wife, Sandra M. Cauthorn; son and daughter-in-law: Clay and Kim Cauthorn of Houston; son and daughter-in-law: Brian and Monica Cauthorn of Leander; son: Graham Cauthorn and partner Davis Kennedy of Dallas, and grandchildren: Cal Cauthorn of Austin, Becca Cauthorn, Anna Cauthorn and Emily Cauthorn of Houston and Hunter Cauthorn of Leander. In addition, he is survived by his brother and sister-in-law: Drew and Elizabeth Cauthorn; sister: Candace Cauthorn; brother-in-law and sister-in-law: Jimmy and Cathy McNair as well as their children and grandchildren.
