Tommy Edwin (Jack) Tatum, Jr. was born on October 27, 1951 in Dublin, Texas. He went to be with his LORD on June 22, 2015 at the age of 63 years, 7 months and 25 days. He was the son of Tommy Tatum, Sr. and Fredabelle (Jones) Tatum. He was preceded in death by his mother on May 18, 2014.

"Jack" is survived by his daughter; Madeleine Grace Tatum of The Woodlands, Texas; his father, Tommy Tatum, Sr. of Dublin, Texas; his sisters & brothers-in-law, Vickie C. Tatum & Ken Manning of Austin, Texas, Melissa Ann Tatum & Bobby Durham of Houston, Texas and Lucinda Tatum & Joe Hobbs of Columbia, Mo.; and his brother, William F. Tatum of Dublin, Texas.

Jack was a retired geophysicist who worked for over 30 years in the oil business. He had recently retired from the EP Energy Company. He was a 1969 graduate of Del Rio High School. He had a Bachelor of Science in Geophysics and a Master's in Oceanography from Texas A&M University and an MBA from The University of St. Thomas in Houston. During his time at Marathon Oil, he worked overseas in Indonesia, Singapore, and England. Jack loved to travel and had an extraordinary capacity for absorbing knowledge from the places he went and the people he met. Beyond his impressive formal education, Jack was an avid reader and could speak intelligently on any subject. It was almost impossible to mention a book he had not read. Jack was a dedicated father, brother, son, and uncle and was a positive presence in the lives of so many friends and family members. Any conversation with Jack was marked by his unique and unmatched sense of humor, and all of his loved ones will remember laughing (often to the point of tears) at his witty and hilarious observations. He will be dearly missed by family and friends.
