Charles "Chilli" Nixon, Class of 1952
I graduated in 1952 and my brother Bobby graduated from Edison Hi in  San Antonio in 1961. I do not know any of the cool people in the 1957 picture, but I would like to relate an observation. I noticed the  cigarettes in the mouths of two of the coolies.  I have checked my  records, but no where could I find a picture of Bobby without a cigarette in his hand. It  was like dope. Well, later in his life he paid for that vice. HE DIED  OF LUNG CANCER.
Let that be a lesson to all cigarette lovers.

Wild Boys Photo:
Left to Right: Don Ricks, Bill Brown and Ronnie Chandler?

John Brockwell, Class of 1960

The one on the left is Don Ricks, the one in the middle is Bill Brown, and the one on the right is ??????!  This was the James Dean look.  You cut your belt loops off your levi's, wore no belt, combed your hair back into ducktails and let your cigarette hang from the side of your mouth and wore a white tee shirt and sunglasses.  Some like Rodney Robertson wore his red windbreaker and drove his 1950 Ford just like James Dean.  Of all the boys in Del Rio, Rodney came closest to looking and acting like James Dean.  I couldn't even start to look like James Dean because I smiled too much.  James Dean pouted a lot and rarely smiled, at least in the movies.
