Alma Shely Carver (Class of 1957) Obituary

 

Alma Shely Carver, age 78, passed away May 11, 2018. She was born on August 28, 1939 to Terry Lee and Alma McDonald Shely. She was raised in Del Rio and lived there until marrying. Alma was one of 11 siblings. She graduated with a Masters Degree from Texas A&M, Corpus Christi. She married the love of her life, Joe Carver, in 1956 and they were married 60 wonderful years. Her love of children and education led to her career in teaching for over 25 years. She was a devoted and faithful Christian and a long-time member of the Weber Road Church of Christ. She opened her home to many, some of whom lived with our family throughout the years. She will always be remembered for her hard work and devotion to her family. She was an avid deer hunter and loved hunting alongside her husband and many siblings. She is dearly missed by her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her daughter Judy Carver Nelson and husband Joe Carver. Survivors include two daughters, Frankie Carver and Laura Carver (Dean) Johnson. Eight grandchildren: Michelle Stuyvesant, Atlee McCampbell, Russell Johnson, Michael Sellers, Brandy Reyna, Allie Honig, Colton Nelson and Bobby Joe Nelson. She also had fifteen great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild and many relatives and friends.

Visitation will be from 4-7pm Wednesday, May 16, 2018 at Cage Mills Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 10am on Thursday May 17, 2018 at the Weber Road Church of Christ. Interment in the Old Helena Cemetery, in Helena will follow at 3pm.
