Carl Herring Basse, age 73, went to be with the Lord on July 11, 2009. He was born on November 22, 1935 in San Antonio.
He was preceded in death by his son, Stephen Michael Basse; parents, Hilmar & Gladys Basse. Carl is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Jackie Basse; children, Susan Schoenfeld, Jackie "Sam" Wilson, Raymond Stanley Basse and Hilmar Carl Basse II; 12 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; friend and caregiver, Del Galvan.
Visitation will be 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 15, 2009 at Sunset Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be 2:00 p.m., Thursday, July 16, 2009 at the Alamo Heights United Methodist Church (Garden Chapel), 825 E. Basse, San Antonio, 78209. Entombment will follow at Sunset Mausoleum II. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Animal Defense League of Texas, 11300 Nacogdoches Rd. , San Antonio, TX 78217
