The family of Edward M. Torres of Eagle Pass is saddened to announce his passing on Sunday, September 19th, 2021 at the age of 84 years.

He will be lovingly remembered by his children: Maria Del Carmen T. Garcia (Armando), Edwardo Torres Jr., Sylvia T. Morales (Genaro), Guadalupe C. Torres (Diana), and Enrique Torres; 13 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren: siblings, Lydia Rocha (Hector+), Dora Stockmann(John), Olga Cox( Charlie), George Torres(Socorro), Gloria Calderon (Fermin); as well as numerous relatives and friends.

He was predeceased by his loving wife of 49 years, Amelia Cervantes Torres; brother, Guadalupe Torres; and his parents: Guadalupe Rocha Torres and Maria de Jesus Martinez Torres.

Edward Torres was born in Del Rio on May 29th, 1937. He graduated from Del Rio High School in 1958. Edward worked over 70 years of his life first working for his father then moving on to Gandy’s Dairy (milkman), EPISD (bus driver), Lucky Eagle Casino (bus driver), as well as being self-employed.

His father instilled in him a good work ethic starting as soon as he could pick up a shovel, while his mother encouraged and demanded that education along with religion be a top priority in his life. Edward went on to inspire those same moral values in his own family. He strived to support his family and the people of his community with pride and kindness. He left a lasting impression on family and friends.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 23, 2021, from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Sunset Memorial Oaks Funeral Home; followed by a graveside service at 1:30 PM at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.

His family would like to thank the communities of Eagle Pass and Del Rio for their love and support throughout his life.
