Jeanette (Hershberger) Hildreth, age 83, passed away peacefully, at the Val Verde Regional Medical Center in Del Rio, Texas on Monday, January 27, 2020. She was born on February 22, 1936 in Del Rio, Val Verde County, Texas to William Leroy (Bill) Hershberger and Gladys Arlene (Ray) Hershberger. Jeanette was a 1954 graduate of Del Rio High School. She and her classmates had recently gathered to celebrate their 65th Class Reunion. After high school she worked for twelve years at the Highway Department before devoting herself to the care of her growing family. On November 19, 1960 Jeanette married Kenneth Lee (Ken) Hildreth of Neligh, Nebraska. Jeanette and Ken spent their 56 years together living in Del Rio with their children and grandchildren. She was a longtime member of the First Presbyterian Church of Del Rio where she spent many years working with the Meals On Wheels program. Jeanette was a member of the Lady Red Roadsters while Ken was a Red Roadster with the Shriners. The couple also had fun square dancing with the Cactus Twirlers. She enjoyed good food with good friends, especially breakfast at her Whataburger. Jeanette was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who was blessed with a gift for nurturing her family. Jeanette was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and her sister Mildred Louise (Hershberger) Hildreth. She is survived by her daughter Tracy, son Lance, daughter-in-law Susan, and grandchildren William, Edward, & Mary Grace, along with many nieces, nephews, and other family. Visitation will be held at the First Christian Church of Del Rio, Texas on Saturday, February 01, 2020 at 10:00 AM. A funeral service will immediately follow at 10:30 AM, with Minister John P. Cary officiating. The family requests that donations be made to the organization of your choice in lieu of flowers or other gifts.
