Joe Marvin Bowers Sr. passed away 2 August 2019 in Lewisville, Texas. Joe was the son of Overton Earl Bowers and Alice Marie Bridges. He was born in Alpine, Texas on 15 December 1934. Joe attended high school in Ft. Stockton, Texas and Del Rio, Texas, graduating in 1953 from Del Rio High School. He served in the U. S. Army and was a member of the Masonic Lodge. He retired from Motorola in Dallas, Texas.
Joe is survived by his daughters Mary Jo Denton, her husband Lance, Julie Ann Lawson, and her partner Pam and sister Alice Erlyne Lawter and her husband Owen. Preceding in death is his beloved wife, Lura Boyd Bowers and son, Joe M. Bowers Jr. He is also survived by grandson, Tyler Denton and granddaughter Victoria Denton, great-granddaughter, Avery Denton. Nieces, Leanne Werner and Brianna Chadic, nephew, Michael Lawter, stepdaughter Kimberly Ghearing and stepson, Joe Dee Newton Jr.
Joe will be buried in Westlawn Cemetery in Del Rio, Texas. Donations in Joe’s name may be made to Del Rio Wildcats Alumni Association (11785 W Lakeshore Drive, Conroe TX 77303) or any charity of your choice.
