September 22, 2014

Lea Harlow of Shavano Park, Texas died at her home on Monday, Sept 22, 2014. Lea grew up in Del Rio, Texas, a descendant of a pioneer ranching family and the daughter of Fred and Frankie Lee Harlow, both of whom preceded her in death. Lea lived in California and Missouri before settling in San Antonio in 1986. She worked for 17 years at the University of Texas Health Science Center in the Department of Dental Physiology. She retired from her position as an executive assistant in 2010.
Lea loved Cajun dancing with Ron, her partner of 24 years, and she loved her foster care dachshunds. She cared deeply about issues affecting the political health and climate of her country and those issues surrounding the just and humane treatment of pets. She was closely connected with Diamond Dachshund Rescue of Texas. Lea is survived by her partner, Ron Poston, a sister Kay Ochoa, her brother-in-law, Daniel Ochoa III of Boerne, and two nieces, Anna Ochoa and Elizabeth Ochoa of San Antonio. A memorial service will be held at Lea's home on Saturday, September 27 at 11:00 a.m.
