Lura passed away on March 14, 2016 in Lewisville, Texas.
Lura Darlene Boyd was born on July 21, 1938 to Clarence
"CF" and Daisy Mae Boyd in Del Rio, Texas.
Lura graduated from Del Rio High School in 1956. She was
in Band her Freshman through Senior years, twirler her
Sophomore through Senior years, and National Honor
Society her Junior and Senior years.
Lura retired from First Worthing as manager of
Human Resources.
She is survived by her husband, Joe Bowers; son, Joseph
Dee Newton, Sr. and his wife Kay; daughter, Kimberley
Newton Ghearing and her husband Larry. Lura is also
survived by her granddaughter, Kristine Meyer Samples and
her husband Mikie and their children Tucker and Easton;
grandson, Joseph Dee Newton, Jr. and his wife Taylor; and
grandson, Douglas Clay Newton.
The family wishes to thank all of Lura's wonderful Del Rio
alumni friends who visited, called, sent cards and emails.
Please know each of you lifted her spirits and made her smile.
Grave-side services will be held on April 2nd, 2016 at Westlawn
Cemetery in Del Rio, Texas.
