Obituary for Robert Marcellus "Mark" Rambie

Robert Marcellus (Mark) Rambie was born in San Antonio, Texas, February 5, 1939. His parents were Reverend Edgar R. and Mary G. Rambie. Mark married Susan Sultenfuss Rambie of Del Rio on October 24, 1959, and they were happily married for 45 years until her death May 4, 2004. Mark served in the US Army and was honorably discharged in 1957, receiving an M-1 rifle sharpshooter Badge. He retired from the Houston Police Department Special Operations Division July 7,1980, after serving more than 20 years. He received an honorable discharge. Besides caring for Susie who contracted MS one year after they were married and became paralyzed from the neck down, his next love was the outdoors. Mark loved the Big Bend area and guided many hunters and tourists for decades on their special trips in that area.

Mark is survived by only one relative, John Rambie of Uvalde, and many friends in Texas and surrounding states. Monica Bisso of Pasadena, Texas held a special place in his and Susie’s hearts. John Hodges of Uvalde was also a caring and thoughtful friend.

Mark lived in Uvalde for the last 10 years and died Monday morning at the age of 81, November 9, 2020, in Uvalde Memorial Hospital from pneumonia complications. His funeral will be Saturday, November 14, 2020, at G. W. Cox Funeral home, 114 Fletch Dr., Del Rio, Texas 78840. He will lie in state in the Chapel there from 10AM to 11AM. A grave side service will follow.

Mark’s net estate is being donated to the Cal Farley’s Boys Ranch in Amarillo, Texas. In lieu of flowers, a donation to them in his honor would be very meaningful.

A brief visitation will be held on Saturday, November 14, 2020 at 10 am at G. W. Cox Memorial Funeral Home. A Graveside Service will be held on November 14, 2020 at 11 am at the Masonic Cemetery.
