Ruby “LaVene” Stone Wallen, born on April 28, 1940 in Del Rio, Texas to David and Ruby Stone, passed away with family by her side on January 24, 2021 in Schertz, Texas at the age of 80. LaVene graduated from Del Rio, Texas where she was part of the cheerleading squad her senior year and was voted Sweetheart of Del Rio High School. On August 21, 1958 she married her high school sweetheart, Albert Rex Wallen and together they had three daughters. Lavene enjoyed gardening and watching the butterflies and frogs that would come through her yard. She was a sports fan, particularly the Cowboys.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Albert Rex Wallen. LaVene is survived by her three daughters, Nancy Elizabeth Pennell and husband Jack, Pamela Kay Gruetzner and husband Kevin, and Stephanie Ann Leal; grandchildren, Charles Albert Wallen, Corey Wayne Pennell and wife Kristina, Kelly Elizabeth Gideon and husband Tyler, Clinton Kerr Martin and wife Brandi, Zachary Michael Leal; great -grandchildren, Bailey Emma Wallen, Haiden Elizabeth Wallen, Cooper Everett Gideon, Cameron Elizabeth Gideon, Cashton Wayne Pennell, Kelsee Anne Marie Martin, Kei-Lei Martin and Ethan Riley.
A Memorial Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 30, 2021 from 4:00PM - 6:00PM at the Schertz Funeral Home Chapel.

Sad news. My condolences for LaVene's daughters whom I met only once in the early 2000's at a DRHS reunion and for their families. Albert and I were double cousins, I definitely had a resemblance to his mother Ruth, as his daughters noted! The Spirit of God be with you at this difficult time! Hank
