Tommy Simmons, Class of 1963
Tommy Gene Simmons of Poteet passed away March 13, 2014 at the age of 68. Tommy was born November 21, 1945 to Louis Arthur and Evelyn Margaret (Crawford) Simmons. His grew up in Del Rio and was a railroader. After retirement he made his home Poteet and was active with the Poteet Lions Club. He was also a director with the Strawberry Festival Association.
Tommy is survived by brother, Jimmy Simmons and wife Linda of Porter; niece, Dawn Simmons-Harris of San Antonio; nephews, Dean Simmons of Kingwood, and Donnie Simmons of Porter; great niece and nephews, Amelia Simmons, Montgomery Simmons, Kyle Harris, Travis Harris, and Justin Harris. He was preceded in death by his parents Louis Arthur and Evelyn Margaret (Crawford) Simmons. Serving as honorary pallbearers for Tommy's service will be Ruben Martinez, Marty Jenske, Bo Hutto, Martin Beeman, Marion Carson, Gary Starnes, Houston Hutto, David Fuller.
Visitation will be on Friday, March 21, 2014 from 2:00PM to 8:00PM at Hurley Funeral Home Chapel, 118 W. Oaklawn in Pleasanton. Funeral services will be on Saturday, March 22, 2014 at 10:00AM at Hurley Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Simmons Cemetery in Poteet.
