Walter E. Whitehead, II

 

August 22, 1934 - September 29, 2014

 

Walter E. (“W.E.”) Whitehead II, 80, passed from this life on Sept. 29, 2014, at his home in Salado, TX.  Born on Aug. 22, 1934, W.E. was a lifelong resident of Val Verde County, TX, until retiring to Salado. W.E. was a third generation livestock rancher and a leader in several farm and ranch-related associations and community organizations. He was a renowned Boer goat breeder and traveled the world promoting Boer goats. He actively ranched until 2005 when he moved to Salado with his wife Carolyn.

W.E. was preceded in death by his parents Willie B. Whitehead and Della Rose (Halbert) Whitehead, and by his brother Willie B. (“Bill”) Whitehead Jr.

W.E. is survived by his wife Carolyn Matthews Whitehead of Salado, sister Rosemary Whitehead Jones of Val Verde County, TX, and four children: Walter E. Whitehead III, Glennda B. Whitehead Munoz, Mark Edward Whitehead, and Shelley Cooper Lowry. In addition, W.E. is survived by six grandsons, three granddaughters and six great- grandchildren.

At W.E.’s request, no services will be held. Cremation services were provided by Scanio-Harper Funeral Home of Temple, TX. W.E. requested  that his ashes be dispersed across his beloved ranch in Val Verde County.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be
madein W.E.’s name to the charity of choice.
