Yolanda Urby Urrabazo (Class of 1965) Obituary
FEB. 12, 1947 – SEPT. 9, 2016
Yolanda Urby Urrabazo passed away September 9, 2016 at age 69 in San Antonio, TX.
Yolanda battled melanoma three months prior to her death.
Yolanda is preceded in death by her parents Juan and Carolina Urby; her older siblings: Elvira Estrada, John Urby, Jesse Urby, Olgita Urby;
Yolanda is survived by her beloved husband of 47 years, Ignacio Urrabazo Jr.; her seven children Tom, Elizabeth (Raul Velasquez, Jr.), Jaime, Yolanda, Veronica, Alejandra, and Claudia; and her grandchildren Cassidy, Tomas, Jake, Diego, Carolina, and Oscar.
She is further survived by her siblings: Hortensia Maldonado, Rodolfo Urby, Sr., Heriberto Urby, Sr., Mary Figueroa, and Joe (Mary) Urby.
Yolanda was born on February 12, 1947 in Del Rio, TX.
She graduated from Texas Women's University in 1969 and got her master's degree in Spanish literature from The University of Texas at El Paso in 1977.
Yolanda's passion for literature manifested as she taught English literature for 32 years until June 2016.
Visitation will be held tomorrow evening, Sunday, September 11, 2016 from 4 to 9 p.m. at Joe Jackson North Funeral Chapels, 1410 Jacaman Rd.; where a Vigil for the Deceased and Rosary will commence at 7:00 p.m.
Funeral Services will be conducted on Monday morning, September 12, 2016 departing at 9:30 a.m. from Joe Jackson North Funeral Chapels to St. Patrick Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m.
Pallbearers will be: Jorge Urby, Rodolfo Urby, Jr., Heriberto Urby, Jr., Raul Velasquez, Jr., Daniel Gomez and Ariel Gomez.
Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at the family plot in the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
