Talk about an excellent read! This book, by Winifred Thompson, Class of 1940 fits the bill!
The story line is based on a German couple, in their early 20's, with one son, heading to Fredericksburg, Texas in the year 1858, on the ship Independence. It lightly touches on their voyage, but more so on their wagon travel from Glaveston, Texas to the small parcel of land they purchased in the Hill Country of Texas.
What makes the book even more interesting is it contains four love stories. It truly is a "feel good book".
