Summer Fun!

(This story occured at Lake Walk)

I can't remember whose big idea this was or who was among the group of idiots that just had to have this dangerous adventure.   Sounds like something my brother John thought up, he would scrape thru and everyone else would pay the price!

We would swim across the lake just up from the dam.  Get up, somehow, to a bunker  type doorway and walk down dark stairs with a wall on one side and sheer drop on the other.  Masses of granddaddy long legs bouncing over our heads.

I can't remember how we got up to the dam but on one side next to a big wall the water trickled over and we would slide down the wet, mossy spot into the water below.  I smacked the back of my head good one time, I didn't do that again.  Then down into the water, swim really fast and hard to avoid some swirling water sucking machinery and up the rocks and back where we started, cant remember that either, but this was all done barefoot and skimpy little bathing suits!

I was not a strong swimmer and believe me it was lot's farther than it looked.  But we all made it and more than once, as I recall!

Surely 8 ways to die on that one!
