Wildcat Trophies?!!!!

When Del Rio Schools consolidated ten years ago, what happened to memorabilia, such as trophies?

Fortunately three Alumni had the vision to save Wildcat memorabilia, at their own expense. They are Denise (Garza) Bowers, Rosalinda (Rosie) (Valadez) Perez, Class of 1970 and Jose Luis (Pepe) Perez, Class of 1969.

There are not enough words to describe Rosie and Pepe Perez’s dedication as Wildcat Alumni! They were an integral part of a Del Rio Wildcats Association years ago, which is not operational today. (Click photos to enlarge)

The below poem was also part of the memorabilia Rosie and Pepe had on hand. Luz Clara De Luna Balderas wrote the Poem, which is very appropriate at this point in time:

“Always A Wildcat”

A new school and color we were given one day
But all we Wildcats feel can’t be taken away;

Maroon and Gold, true spirit colors to me,
will always be around for others to see;

Many cherished memories from the past,
Good friends and great times in mind shall last;

And to those of us here now I say:
“Enjoy, Thanks God above we are here today”

For some of our friends like stars shine in the sky,
As the world continues revolving by;

But Wildcats or Wildcats at heart, to all the same,
In mind or soul, forever special shall remain!!

As noted in the below photos, the operative word to describe volume would be ‘Overwhelming! And these photos do not include several out of view, plus many more still in boxes!

Please take the time at the All School Reunion to meet and thank Rosie and Pepe for all they have done.

Since we have no location to permanently display these trophies – we will have a silent auction at the Reunion Sat. night.
