George "Kenny" Grimes, 78, of Barstow California, passed away at home surrounded by his family on the morning of November 23 2012.
He was born on July 8, 1934 in Del Rio, Texas, the son of late Arthur Grimes and Clara Potter.
He married Fran Grimes on April 3, 1978 and they spent 34 loving years together.
He served in the U.S Army in the 1950's in the Signal Corps. After his honorable discharge he worked for Western Union as a lineman for 22 years. After his time with Western Union, He went on to work for Santa Fe Railroad as an electrician for another 26 years, until he retired in 1999.
He is survived by his loving wife, Fran Grimes of Barstow California; his children, Greg Grimes of Barstow California, Barry Grimes of Spokane Washington, Gary Grimes of Barstow California, Marty Grimes of Barstow California, John Kaldowski of San Diego California, Michael Kaldowski of Prairie Grove Arkansas, Brian Schmid of Barstow California, Deborha Keffer of Almargodo New Mexico, Karen Harris of Barstow California, as well as 12 grandchildren and 1 great grandson.
In lieu of flowers, George would like donations made to Lung Cancer Association or Hospice Care. Very special Thank you to his Hospice Nurse, Lori Wergner.
A memorial service will be held at Mead Mortuary on Wednesday November 28, 2012 at 11:00 am.
