 Jeffry Lynn Green, 73, passed away June 9 at Bay Area Hospital after a short battle with lung cancer. God was merciful to Jeff. He went peacefully to sleep with his wife by his side.

Jeff was born and raised in Del Rio, TX on March 2, 1943. He’s the son of the late John Cazy Green, Jr, and Lorah Nell Green. He graduated from Del Rio High School and attended college in San Angelo. Jeff enjoyed music and band, went to Gunnison,CO on a music scholarship; he sang, played harmonica, trumpet, drums and guitar. As a hobby he liked playing at dances in their small rock band, riding Brahma bulls and breaking horses. He helped on area working ranches, his uncle’s plumbing company, and the highway department during his youth.

In 1961 he joined the U.S. Navy, stationed in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, he served mainly on the USS Independence Flight Deck taking out and bringing in our Navy pilots, storing, cleaning planes and helicopters and going on rescue missions during the Viet Nam War to pick up servicemen in danger, receiving medals.

Returning home from service, he met the love of his life, Emmadean Bills from Tulsa, OK, a legal secretary. He proposed on the third date, they married and settled in Corpus Christi. Jeff was saved and baptized at First Baptist Church of CC in 1969, loving and worshiping the Lord the remainder of his life. He worked his life in sales, training and management, in TX, FL, OK and CO. He was a loving father and husband and great friend to others.

Jeff is survived by his wife of 50 years, Emmadean Green, daughter, Lorah Marie Hodges, son, John Cazy Green, daughter, Tawny Lynn Meacham (all of Corpus Christi), adoptive son, Chris Cloud, of Louisianna, his sister, Vicki Jann and Bruce Eichenberg of The Woodlands, TX, and her children and grandchildren. Grandchildren, Austin Alan Hodges and Jessica Wilson, Allison Lorah Hodges, Corbin David Meacham and Johnathan Cazy Green (all of Corpus Christi). He loved his cousins Jimmie Lou Vick, Susan Maresh, Darla Knight, Johnny Freeman, Barbara Kline, and their spouses, children and grandchildren.

A Celebration Service will be held at Padre Island Baptist Church, 14253 S. Padre Island Dr., Thursday, June16, 2016, at 6:00 pm, reception following. Pastor, Tracy Watson, officiating. Military Honors observed. In lieu of flowers, feel free to make a donation to our PIBC Youth/Children’s Ministry.
