Obituary for Nancy Ann Graf

Nancy Ann Graf passed from this life on February 16, 2019 at the age of 92. She was born in Richland Springs, Texas on September 11, 1926, the daughter of Robert H. and Lillian P. Wilson. Her family moved to Del Rio a few years later, and she graduated from Del Rio High School in 1944. She soon married her high school classmate, John Edward Graf, a union that endured for 70 years. Together they raised six children; Laura Womack, David (Candy) Graf, Martha (Michael) Eissler, Robin Donnelly, Mary (Irving (Bubba)) Tyler, Johnna (David) Antu. In addition, they were blessed to see 13 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren brighten their lives.

Nancy worked for many years at the Del Rio Bank & Trust, where she retired as an assistant vice president. After retiring from the bank, she and her husband participated as hospice volunteers, spending many hours administering to the sick and dying. Nancy was also a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church where she was engaged in many church related activities, including serving as the director of religious education. In addition, she designed and sewed costumes for the Upstagers community theater group. Her hobbies included gardening, sewing, painting and square dancing.

But far and away her most treasured moments were spent entertaining and teaching her grandchildren, an example being the summer art class where the paintings produced by her grandsons still adorn some of their walls. At “Gobbie’s”, as she was affectionately known, there was always a good book or project to enlighten young minds.

A special thanks is extended to Dr. Terry Lindsey, the nurses at Val Verde Regional Medical Center Hospice, and the caring staff of Southwest Assisted Living.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. A Holy Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Wednesday, February 20, 2019 at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Friends of Hospice or the charity of your choice. Pallbearers will be: Ben Graf, Will Graf, Luke Graf, Christopher Antu, Michael Antu, and Jacob Kusenberger.
