Roger Ridley Silver Beaver Award

Many Wildcats are dedicated volunteers that do not seek recognition, nor very seldom are recognized for their service, but rather volunteer for the self satisfaction of helping others.

Roger Ridley, Class of 1963 is the type of volunteer who never sought recognition; he is just not that type of person!

In 1998 Roger was asked to assist with Troop 255 as a committee member which rapidly evolved to being Assistant Scoutmaster, then as Advancement Chairman, Troop Committee Chairman and Scoutmaster.

Roger is a firm believer in training young men and just as important to him is making sure adult leadership receives ongoing training. Within the former Amistad and Winter Garden districts he has trained over 75 local leaders, since 2000. In 2005 Roger received the District Order of Merit.

It’s rewarding to watch passionate scouting volunteers provide so much time for young men, over many years with encouragement to set a solid foundation for their life. They serve as a great example to Scouts and others.

Roger is a member of the Baptist Church and has been active with the Calderon Elementary School PTO.
