Wildcats, Rams, Mustangs and now Bears?

No not a new Del Rio area 'Bears' High School team, but rather the
real thing!

Del Rio Bear

Excitement was in the air in and around Del Rio from June 8th thru
the 10th 'cause there was a wild 'Bear' roaming Del Rio! As noted in
the above photo the roaming 'Bear' ended up in a tree top in San
Felipe. Del Rio Police Officers armed with shotguns and rifles
cleared a two-block are around the 'Bear' tree and ordered area
residents to stay inside.

But not to worry the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department Biologist
shot the bear with a tranquilizer dart shortly afternoon Tuesday. But
instead of the 'Bear' staying put he scrambled higher up to the tree!

Ah, but not to worry Del Rio Firefighters came to the rescue and as
noted below put the 'Bear' in a tunnel shaped cage.

The below photo is of the bear being released, unharmed, at the
Black Gap Wildlife Management Area adjacent to Big Bend National
Park.
